Currently we are working with several highly talented children, between the ages of 10 and 19. All of these children are now receiving full academic scholarships and are presently not facing nutritional or medical problems. Throughout the month we attend to individual needs that arise in the lives of these children. And once every month we meet with all of the children in a supportive group atmosphere, reviewing their progress, and helping them with any obstacles that may have arisen in any area of their lives.
As the children progress in their education, the foundation will become increasingly involved in their vocational guidance, helping them prepare for further studies and for a career.
In the future
we hope to be able to directly provide classes for all of these children in
English language and the use of computers. Rev. Sujatha and five very carefully
chosen adult volunteers are committed to being a stable source of support for
these children throughout their development. All of our volunteers take a series
of vows with respect to that commitment. We are determined to give them the
opportunities necessary to develop their potential to the fullest. Each of these
children understands that they are not only a beneficiary of the foundation;
they also have a responsibility to serve as a foundation volunteer to help other
children in the future. This is a responsibility which we encourage the children
to take very seriously because we believe that it is a vitally important aspect
of their development to give something back to the world. Accepting this responsibility
also helps the children not feel "disadvantaged." Instead they realize
that they are members of the foundation and that one day they too will serve
others.
